    The book Monsoon by Wilbur Smith was written in the year 1999 it was perhaps one of the first books in the series on the Courtney Family that was not set in Africa. It followed the lives of the four sons of Henry Courtney after the naval Knight and Privateer is sent by the British to intercept and confront an Arab corsair that is terrorizing British shipping.

    The four sons of Henry Courtney are William, Tom, Dorian and Guy. The sons land up in odd places with one traveling to India, another landing up adopted by the Sultan of Oman some remaining in England. The son who is adopted by al-Malik the Caliph of Oman is Dorian and he falls in love with the Caliph's daughter and they elope together. He ends up reunited with his brother Tom who had gone away to India at the start.
