Do My Chickens Need A Night Light To Lay Better And To Be Happier?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

It really depends on if you want eggs all the time.  A light in their coop will give them  more light hours as they need 12-14 hours of light to lay.  If you are doing  this I would recommend a light in the morning goes on before you would normally let them out.
They will naturally slow down in the darker months so you can let them do this or change their internal clock a bit by putting a light in, not a strong one if you can read a book or paper with it that should be enough.
As far as being happier they do not care they do what comes naturally.  It is a human choice.
