    No, it is not right thing. You must give permission to someone to view your credit report after getting authority from you. So it is not a right thing to do.

      It's the right thing, do it as soon as possible. Credit reporting agencies allow temporary lifts on blocking if you need to get a loan. It costs $10 per reporting agency for a total of $30 and in return safety and peace of mind. Likewise, credit reports are only used for short term and high interest loans. From what I have heard, if you offer %20 down payment on a mortgage he banks WILL NOT refuse your loan. Life may be a little less convenient in the short term, but your future will be brighter. Go for it!

        If I put a freeze on my credit report so that employment agencies cannot see it, what will it tell them when they try to run my background?  Will it say not available due to a block?  Or will there just be nothing?
