How Do You Plant Poppies From Seeds?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

To grow poppies from the seeds of poppies, first of all it is necessary to choose a site which offers either full sunlight or light shade. The reason why it is necessary to choose a site which offers either full sunlight or light shade is because the poppy flowers have the habit of growing in a rather loose fashion and they would grow a lot better in plantings of a wildflower type. The poppies must be planted directly in the soil.

Poppies must be planted either in fall in area that have a mild winter season or in the very early part of the spring season. The seeds must be directly planted onto the surface of a flowerbed which has already been prepared. When they are between half-an-inch and an inch tall, they must be thinned. The soil should be kept slightly moist and the plants should be pulled out and discarded in the hotter months.
