There are chances of both false positive and false negative tests results for down syndrome. False positive results can be 5-8% and false negative 35-40%. As age of the mother is an important factor when determining blood test results for down syndrome. Below 25 years of age,  risk for down syndrome is decreases and increases as the age advances.
Now it is possible to to test down syndrome in first trimester. Maternal age, serum quadruple screen, the serum marker PAPP-A and an ultrasound are used to detect down syndrome with a 5% chance of false positive. So, you should go for further investigations for final diagnosis.
