While going for a lengthy outing, several issues must be checked in advance in order to ensure a trouble free trip. Checklist for such events may vary from location to location, situation to situation, purpose to purpose. However, following are suggestions that may help you preparing your 7 day trip. The list is not closed and only to guide against the common mistakes.

    • Ensure the onward and return journey tickets have been booked in advance and seats are confirmed. Give the journey details to some of your near one at home.
    • Ensure booking of room at the destination well in advance to avoid any last minute hassle.
    • Don't forget to carry a photo id card, credit/debit card, etc. Large amount of hard cash must not be kept with the personnel belongings. Costly ornaments are not required to wear.
    • Give a good visit to your doctor before leaving for a 7 day trip. He may guide you on selecting few emergency medicines with you.
    • Be careful to take camera, transistor, torch, cells, toothbrush, spectacle, wristwatch, mobile phone, spare clothing, under wears, and one or two good books, etc.
    • Check books, magazines, travel guides, web sites, etc to collect the detail information about the place to be visited. Try to find out the historical events of the place and do remember to visit them while at tour.
    • Arrange a good, trustworthy licensed guide at the destination to help you at the visiting places.

No need. I travel light and I bring easy wash-and-wear clothes that dries up easily and needs no ironing, including my suits.

It depends on where you are going for the trip. I traveled for work so I have an overnight kit always ready to go that contains a razor, shaving cream, toothpaste, toothbrush, bar soap, shampoo, hair brush, comb, cologn, deodorant and all other toiletries that may be needed (asprin, lip balm, cold medicine, lotion) of course, if I fly, I have to take all the liquids and put them in a ziplock for security

When it comes to clothing, I look at what I will be doing and how many days. 7 days means I will need 8 pair of boxers (always pack at least one extra of everything in case of a delay on the return) 8 pair of sock 8 undershirts, 5 pair of slacks (I am able to wear a pair of slacks for 2 days but not in a row) and 8 shirts.

I am also a diabetic so then I look to make sure I have an adequate supplies along with reading material for the trip and that my mp3 player is fully charged along with the laptop so that I can use them along the way if needed.

You're question revolved around clothes, not travel essentials,so I'll try to answer that.  I travel as part of my job.

The only thing you really need seven or more of are undies and socks.  If you're female, bras can be worn more than once.  Invest in a bra that can be worn strapless, criss cross, halter, etc.

Take clothes that can be worn more than once and that mix and match with other items.  Ie, black slacks or little black dress.  You can always put a blouse or shrug over the dress to change the look, or wear it by itself.

Wear the bulkiest shoes, like tennis shoes.  Take only comfortable shoes and shoes that can be worn casual or dress up an outfit, ie: Sandals.

Mix and match your shirts or blouses, with accessories that will change or alter the look.

Be sure to take a lightweight sweater or jacket and a sunvisor or fold up hat.  Small umbrellas should be a standard, too.

Don't over pack.  Most people usually don't wear half the shoes & clothes they take.
