Why Does My Vet Keep Trying To Convince Me To Have My Cat Neutered?

Most vets do advise that you get your new pets neutered as soon as possible. This is generally because there are hundreds if not thousands of unwanted animals each year brought about by over breeding and unexpected breeding. Animal shelters are overrun with animals due to owners not spaying or neutering their animals.
Many owners seem to think it is cruel to neater or spay their cat, but in fact you would be doing them a favour. Male cats will no longer disappear for days, weeks, or even months on end looking for a female cat, and females will not try and escape to get pregnant. Really unless you are a professional breeder, there is no reason not to have your animals spayed or neutered. It is simply a matter of cutting down all of the unwanted pregnancies which occur every single year, and it could even improve your pet's health. It is certainly not cruel and your vet will be able to give you more advice on how the process is done and the true benefits it provides.

If it is a male cat he will start to mark everything and it smells terrible, but after they are fixed this ceses. Also, the vet might concerned or just want your money. Unless you plan to have more cats by this cat its not a bad thing to do. Beware though some cats change their attitude some after they have been fixed. Not in a bad way but sometimes it does change them.

Of course the most important reason to spay or neuter a cat is to help stop the overgrowth of the unwanted cat population, but it is also a good thing to do for the health of your animal. It prevents lots of diseases and cancers and also keep the cat in much better health all around. The body and mind does not have to go through the heet cycles or the hormone changes that come with their cycle and with the males cycle of wanting to breed. It can save you lots of money on vet bills in the long run.
