I Have Cats That Eat The Dog Food And The Dog Eats The Cat Food, What Should I Do? Is This Harmful?

That's par for the course....My dogs love cat food .....they love cats too...used to have a few till the dogs ate them, but I don't recall the cats ever eating the dog food!  I know my Pig loves all food!

Oh, my cats and dog do that too! Sorry no one's really answering your question on what to do, and I don't know! I think it's best if you don't let them do that (somehow), because dog food is made especially for dogs, and cat food was made especially for cats. Sorry I don' have an answer for you!

I have the same problem and was running out of cat food all the time. What I did was get a little metal shelf and put dog food on bottom and cat food on the shelf above it. The dog can't reach the cat food and the cats just jump up on the higher one. If you get the cats the kind of food they like and keep their dish full I think they will lose interest in the dog food.

I don't think this is harmful, my friend's animals do the exact same thing,they have been for a while.
They are all healthy and have not been sick.

It actually is never good for your dog to eat cat food... I am not exactly sure why, but my vet has advised against this - and it is permissible for cats to eat dog food. Although not recommended.

Not harmful but expect diarrhea and possible vomiting. The food is made specifically for eat species... They can get sick if theyre body wont be able to digest the food
