In the year 1973, when Ron Larson realized that his dream could not be achieved he decide to adopt a new dream. He engaged himself in teaching. Soon, he wrote a Calculus text and submitted it for publishing. It was first rejected by the publisher. Then he asked his office partner, Bob to help him. They wrote it all over again a different Calculus text, in 1974 and sent it to publishers and second time again it was not approved. They again tried in 1975, it did not work.

To write Calculus again, he borrowed $2000 from his wife's friend, dedicated his entire summer to this book. After the book was completed he sent it to 26 different publishers waiting for the result. This was the fourth time they attempted to publish this book and finally the book was approved. They signed contract with D.C Health. In December 1978, the first copy of Calculus arrived. When he took the book in his hands, for 15 minutes he sat there and cried going through his dream turning pages.
