    This is a federal US law that regulates the collection, use and dissemination/distribution of consumer's credit information.  It sets standards for how credit information can be used and along with the  Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, it sets forth laws and policies that protect the consumer and their credit rights.  More information can be found at this site:
