I Am Applying For The Fire Department And Got A DWI Because I Decided To Sleep In My Car. I Want To Explain Myself To Fire Chief But Do Not Know How To Put It In A Letter. I'm A Good Guy With Nothing On My Record Besides This.

Your best course of action is to be absolutely honest. I would first spend time thinking about the entire circumstances that surrounded the event. This will help you to have a clear picture of exactly what led up to, and followed, your DWI. Do not attempt to make yourself out as the innocent party. You were obviously under the influence and should therefore not have been in the vehicle. However, you were not intending to drive. This will be in your favour. Sadly, the law does not see it that way. If you are in the car the assumption is made that you did intend to drive, at some point.
The reason for this is that it takes a lot longer than you may realise for the alcohol to leave your system. One unit of alcohol takes AT LEAST two hours to clear. For example, if you have a shot of whiskey, depending on the strength, that is classed as one unit. Many people do not realise that they are still over the limit, even after a night's sleep, due to the amount of units that they have consumed.

I totally agree with the answer above. There are a lot of people in the world who have DWI or DUI's it is just amazing and I would also call up your local career center of your state to help you. They want Americans to work and that is the job to give you assistance.
