Ammanford is located in the county of Carmarthenshire, Wales. It is said to be the fourth largest town in the county of Carmarthenshire. The total population of Ammanford is 5,299 according to the census conducted in the year 2001. Ammanford is the main base for shopping for most of the villages in the neighbouring area.
Ammanford got its name on November 20th, 1880. The name Ammanford was derived from the community that stayed here around the 1800s. The Industrial Revolution increased the demand of Coal. Coal was a prime source required to manoeuvre boilers of the Steam Engine.
The demand of coal led to investment and opening up of many companies like the Llanelli Railway and Dock Company, which had taken up the task of building sophisticated transport system of railways.
