How Do You Measure For Angle Cuts?
In constructing a wooden garden gate, I need to make the typical "Z" frame to nail the boards to. How do I measure the correct angles before cutting the 2x4's?

A fool proof way is to go ahead and make your gate the size you want it. Nail or screw the vertical boards to your horizontal boards (top & bottom) making sure that you keep the verticals square with the horizontals. A framing square works well. Next place your "Z" board on top of your horizontal boards and mark the underneath with a pencil. Make the angle cut and Viola you have it.
