What Is A Washer Bearing?

Answer Question

A washer and a bearing are generally two different terms. You could be referring to a 'flat thrust washer bearing system'. The thrust washer bearing (hydrodynamic bearing) is the one that supports non-axisymmetric loads falling within the planetary gear sets of various automatic transmissions. It is made up of flat-faced washers which are positioned flanked by an idle helical gear on one hand and its contacting face on the other.

Corrugated slider washer bearings would be usually used to fasten two objects which have dissimilar coefficients of thermal expansion.

A washer on the other hand is a thin plate (typically disk-shaped) which will have a hole (typically in the middle), characteristically employed to share the load of something known as a threaded fastener.
