Who Is David Day?

David Day is a Canadian writer. After finishing his school in Victoria, British Columbia, David Day worked as a logger for round about five years on "Vancouver Island". Later than that he traveled to the Europe, mainly notably to Greece where he wrote very first book of poems named as "The Cowichan". He has besides lived in London. The main focus of David's work has been the life, labor and work of 'Tolkien". On this subject he wrote books named as The Tolkien Bestiary (written in 1978), The Tolkien Companion (written in 1993), Tolkien's Ring (written in1994), The Hobbit Companion (written in 2000), The Illustrated Encyclopaedia (written in 2000) and The World of Tolkien (written 2003). David Day did also write more than a few books for children and factual or non-fiction works concerning ecology, vanished and endangered or rare species.

In "The Doomsday Book of Animals (1981)" he described a number of extinct and vanished species; a lot of them were illustrated in colour for the very first time. His book named as "Eco Wars (1989)" is a gloomy and sad account of animal activists like Dian Fossey and Chico Mendes, who lost their lives in the battle to protect the atmosphere and environment. Day's book "The Whale War" had become the foundation for a BBC documentary
