If Two Objects Have The Same Linear Momentum Will They Have The Same Kinetic Energy?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Not necessarily. Momentum is an objects mass times it's velocity. Kinetic energy is half it's mass times it's velocity squared. 1*2=2*1, 1*4 does not equal 2*1

Those two objects can same kinetic energy provided their mass is the same.....0.5*m*v2  is kinetic energy........and m*v= momentumwhere m is the mass of the object and v is its velocity........
