How Long Do I Have To Be On The Job Before I Can Collect Unemployment Benefits In CA?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

It not how long but rather if you have qualifying wages earned in your base period that determine whether you are eligible.  The base period is determined by the date you file for benefits.  In California that would be the first 4 of the last 5 completed quarters.  For someone filing between 1/1/09 and 3/31/09 the base period would be 10/1/07 through 9/30/08 and 1/1/08 through 12/31/08 for anyone filing from 4/1/09 to 6/30/09.
