My Adult Female Cat (who Has Been "fixed") Likes To Bite Sometimes When You Try To Pet Her. Why And How To Stop This??

I have tried "scrunching" her as they do to their own kittens when they show inappropriate behavior but it hasn't worked.

My cat does the same thing. He doesn't bite real hard, but I think it's a control issue. I tap him on his nose and say "no". He has gotten better but will still bite occasionally and then immediately kiss my hand. Funny!

So I guess it is a "cat-thing"! She doesn't bite hard at first but if I keep petting her then she gets more aggresive, acting like she would rather not be bothered at that time. I too have tapped her on the nose while saying "No" and then she likes to take a swipe at me with her claws. She is tempermental, to say the least. Thanks for the answer.

My spayed female cat would occasionally do the biting thing too. She never bit hard and never swiped with her claws out. I think It is just a cat thing. In cases like mine she was just letting me know how much she liked what I was doing, and she never hurt anyone. If your cat is really being mean about it (I've encountered the mean side in male cats) then just walk away, or have the cat go away, this is the best way I know of to let them know it is unacceptable. Sending the cat away tells them that you are the boss.

I have found out that if I ignore this unacceptable behavior then she seems to understand I do not like it. Thanks for the comment.
