    The year 2001 that ended on December 31, would inevitably be remembered in the history books for the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on USA.

    Osama bin laden and his Al-Qaeda group were blamed for the attacks, which killed some 3000 people. In this connection US with the help of its allies including Pakistan carried out heavy bombing in search of Osama bin laden on the stronghold of Osama bin laden and Taliban forces. As a result of heavy bombing and destruction of most of the Afghanistan's territory Northern Alliance with the help of United States captured Kabul on November 13, 2001.

    It installed its government on December 22, 2001. Although US enabled to form its favorite government in Afghanistan but failed to capture Osama bin laden, the most wanted man and Mullah Omer. During December 2001 United States had to face accusations of killing about 90 innocents' civilians in Afghanistan.

    Later on December 5, 2001 Bonn Pact was signed and as a result of this pact efforts were made to establish peace in Afghanistan and rebuilding the country. The conference was held under the auspices of the UN. The conference formed an interim government under the leadership of Mr. Hamid Karzai.
