Dust mites cause frustration to thousands of people each year. It isn't actually the mite itself that people are allergic to; it's the dust mite's droppings. They survive by living off dead skin cells and dust and there can be literally millions of mites in one room. Although you cannot see them, all dust mite allergy sufferers know that they are there and they can develop many symptoms as well as the allergy triggering off their asthma.

To control dust mites it is essential to keep the house as tidy as possible. When you are cooking and cleaning it is best to keep windows open as dust is more than likely to go out of the window instead of staying in the house. Also vacuuming the carpets regularly will ensure that they do not stick around too long.

Generally dust mites prefer carpets as they can bury into them and live snugly, whereas laminate flooring and tiles are a lot harder to live on.
