Answer Question

A year abroad can be extremely beneficial to you for many reasons.   Students of art, languages, literatures, business, law and politics can all benefit for experiencing life in a different culture.   Obviously the language difference may be an issue, but in most countries, you will find hubs of English speaking people, especially around educational institutions.

Cultural differences can also be difficult to begin with.  Certain countries are much more liberal than others and it's important that you are tolerant of these differences.  If you are appear to be willing to respect the differences, the natives of that country are much more likely to take you into their bosom so to speak.  In your year abroad, you are likely to make strong friends with other students who are away for a year, this is further opportunity to experience cultures that you would not usually find at home.  The career benefits of taking a year abroad are multiple.

Not only will the year away open your mind and experiences, but it will be added to your resume/cv. What good employee wouldn't be impressed by what you've achieved? If you have managed to learn the language, it will add a further realm to your employability – not only will you be able to work in that country but also work between your own country and your now adoptive country!
