    My Landlord Knew My Refrig Went Out For 5 Days And Will Not Reimburse Me For My Damages? What Rights Do I Have?

    Refrigerator went out on Sunday, July 6, 2008 two days after the 4th of July. Just bought about 400.00 worth of groceries. Refrigerator was not fixed until Thursday July 11, 2008. Lost about 300.00 worth of food. Pregnant woman in the household, can take any chances on defrosted foods.

    I am sure you have given him a written letter to make repairs. If he doesn't make repairs then you can either cancel the lease if the place is not fit for living or you can make repairs yourself and deduct a reasonable cost from the rent due.
