              Linux is an OS kernel which resembles UNIX operating system. It is the descendant of the Linux family operating systems. Ti was launched under the GPL (General Public License). This system was developed by different contributors, from different parts of the world.  Linux is considered as one of the best model of liberated and open source software.

              Linux was established in 1991 by Linus Torvalds. The code and ideas were contributed to Linux kernel by Minix community earlier. During that period the GNU Hurd was not completed. It was under construction and was not available. The BSD operating system was facing some problem in regards of some legal formalities. This resulted in the rapid growth of Linux, it accumulated many users and developers who used the codes of those operating systems to execute Linux. At present Linux has the support of thousands of Contributors and programmers.
