How To Wire A Breaker For An Ac Unit?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

In most cases your a/c is 220/V so the breaker must be a two pole. This means there are two hots and one ground, there is no neutral required. You will hook up one hot to each pole of the breaker, if one of the wires is white it must be colored black, blue, or red per the National Electric Code (NEC). The ground wire must be hooked to the ground bar in the panel. Turn the breaker on and return the panel cover.
