What Is The Standard Time For A Basketball Match?

The average time of a basketball match is around 40 minutes. However, this game is divided into four different quarters of which each quarter consists of 10 to 12 minutes each. After every half time there is a break for around 15 minutes. If the game moves into a tie there is 15 minutes given as additional time. The courts are generally exchanged in the second half. There can even be various time outs taken by the coach during the game. And since the entire match is based on the stop watch, the time does not include the intervals. And so a match can really prolong with the innumerable breaks, fouls, etc.

A basketball team consists of 12 players, but not all 12 players play the match. The match is played by only 5 players who may be substituted with the rest 7 players from time to time.

In high school they have quarters which are 10minutes long and in college basketball they have half which are 20 minutes long.
