Do All Dr Offices Have The Same Policy With Regards To Issuing Rx's For Birth Control?

My dr's office won't give me another rx for birth control unless I go in for my well-woman exam. We simply can't afford it. My point to them is, even if cancer showed up, I can't do anything about it, so I don't want to know! Besides, what does THAT have to do with getting birth control? If I have cancer, I still don't want to get pregnant!

I hear you honey, how about just getting the ole tubes tied, save up for it, and go from there. I had them done, but only because doc said I couldn't carry again. Besides, couldn't really afford to have another child, and now I am thankful that I did have them done. Sorry if that didn't help with any options for you. I still love you anyway. Lol Tigg♥

Understand your dilemma, but the doctor has to (by law) do a yearly exam in order to Rx a birth control.  You can try other methods, but they may not be as effective.  Avoid planned parenthood, because going there helps to financially support abortions.

Blondie, thank you so much for your info. I didn't know that there was an actual law for that. It just doesn't seem logical, but not every law is, is it.

These such laws are to protect the doctor, pharm companies and patients (?) from lawsuits over someone having ill effects from birth control and no physical was done to detect it first

Planned Parenthood works on a 'sliding scale' based upon one's salary...you may get a PAP smear performed for $15.00 & your pills FREE!

Although I dearly ♥ Blondiemom, I've never heard of P.P. Providing anyone with an abortion, or even at a reduced price.  They are, however, pro-choice.

The Dr. Needs to do an exam at least 2 times a year when you are taking Birth control.

Try going to a free or reduced price clinic or even planned Parenthood. They go based on your income.

The well checks are VERY important

I should be checked twice a year due to the cervical cancer history on my mother's side, not to mention my own brush with it several years ago. I do know this, but if I can't afford the treatment if I did find out I had "cancer", wouldn't it be better not to know? Psychologically speaking, I mean.

Your advice on going to the free/reduced priced clinics and Planned Parenthood is something I will check into. I really appreciate you jogging my brain on that.
