You can find information on mantle from geographical books, encyclopaedia and Internet. You can try searching on:  www.encyclopedia.com.

Mantle is a layer of the earth. It is the interior of the earth crust and exterior of core. Abrupt changes in the velocity helps us to determine the boundaries of Mantle, we do not have any direct observation of the earth crust. It is also determined by the Seismic waves that passes throughout the interior of the earth. Volcanic eruption in the sea coast or ocean ranges helps us to know about the sample of upper mantle. Upper mantle and continental crust combines and makes lithosphere, with the thickness of 100 kilometres. There is a zone of low seismic speed and rigidness just under the lithosphere is called the Asthenosphere. The mantle mainly comprises of 84 per cent of earth in terms of volume. The components are possibly like Peridotite, which is an igneous rock generally made up of magnesium silicate.
