    How Many 'nines' In 1000 - 2000?

    This has been puzzling me for a while, but how many times does a number with the digit 'nine' appear in the digits 1000 - 2000. Kind of random I know, but it is quite important for my teaching! Thanks a lot any one who can help me in advance.

    There are 10 9's between the 1000 and 1100. Therefore the number of 9's between 1000 and 2000 will be, 10 x 10 that is 100.
