Can Landlord Hold Personal Belongings If Rent Is Past Due?

Answer Question

From my understanding no they cannot lock you out, change the locks on you, cut off your utilities, or hold your things.... If rent is owed to them they must file for an eviction anything other than that is against the law and they can be in trouble... Most lawyers will do a consultation for free call and find out your rights according to the law in your area

Check with your local laws, but I am a landlord and my tenants have rights and I can't keep their possessions because of past due rent. There are legal issues that come into play.
