Is George Bush Really Stupid ?

George Bush would seem to be the living proof that it is foolish to judge a book by its cover.  People may not agree with his politics and  he may not be the nicest guy on the block, but many would argue (including former advisers, who now have nothing left to lose) that he is anything but stupid.
He is politically astute and even if not the greatest intellect in the world, he can appeal to many 'middle class, middle of the road' Americans who will support him.
His reaction to the news about 9/11, where he continued to read a book with a young school child, is often used as proof that he is stupid.
But he was wise enough to know that this was a serious situation.  He was also wise enough to know that he needed his advisers to tell him how to react and what to do.  So he waited a few minutes, collected his thoughts and then dealt with the situation.  Not perhaps the reaction America wanted at the time.  But it is the reaction of a man who knows he doesn't know what to do  and for him to recognise this, he cannot be stupid !

He may not be the brightest, but he was smart enough to become president.  Which in his case may not be that smart.... Watch the movie called W.
It's a fake documentary about him.  I saw it a while ago, it was great.  It makes fun of him in the most insulting way: By showing everyone exactly who he was and what he did.
I think the other answer written by HedgeHog is better than mine though.  It's not based on opinion, it includes several facts and points.  It's just that George W. Bush did such a horrible job as president, making it extremely hard to defend him.
