Why Does My Child Not Love His Father?
My little boy who is 2 now doesn't want to have anything to do with his dad. From birth he was really clingy to me. It's gotten much worse the past week now. He refuses to hug him or show his dad any affection. I have no idea what has caused this or why he's acting this way. Our 4 month old loves her dad. She smiles at him much more than she does me.

The reason might be very complex. Your husband might not be giving attention to the child or had not done that in the past. Or it could be natural feeling when the kid wants to be with her mother only.

Thank you for your reply. I can possibly relate it to attention in the past. I believe my husband did pull away and stopped trying when our child didn't want his attention then. Maybe the feeling worsened from the withdraw of my husband. I think too he may just be extremely attached to me. Your answer certainly helps me better make sense of things.
I know this is hard for the both of you, but I can relate. I have 2 girls and they are both very much mommy girls. I nursed both girls, I did most of the getting up through the night, and I'm the one who babies them more. I can't even go to the bathroom by myself now!! But it should get better. My youngest daughter at 2 (she's now 4) wouldn't go to my husband at times and refused to play with or even hug him once in a while. Now even though she still insists on me doing pretty much everything for her, she has a great time playing with and hanging out with dad, and loves him constantly. Tell your husband not to give up... Mom you just may be that comfort that your son needs a lil longer.
