For many groom's, the speech can be the most dreaded part of what is otherwise a very happy, enjoyable day. Indeed many people are not used to speaking to an audience, or even talking much!

The groom's speech is traditionally made after the Father of the Bride makes a toast. It should include the following points at least, plus you can throw in some jokes and anecdotes to liven it up a little.

    * Thank the father of the bride for allowing you to marry his daughter

    * Thank your parents and the brides parents

    * Thank your guests for coming and for all their gifts

    * Address your bride and make her feel special. Compliment how nice she looks and thank her for marrying you.

    * Thank your best man for his friendship and support.

    * Thank the bridesmaids (and present them with a gift each).

Remember to rehearse your speech until you have it well remembered in your mind. You could use cue cards to help you out or if you are really stuck, try and get some professional advice about how to speak in public.
