My dog is listless and has a clear mucous coming from one side of her mouth. She also has no appetite. She is 8 years old. I don't typically taker her to the vet (it's been about 3 years) because she remains indoors virtually all day.

If the dog remains indoor, that doesn't mean that he/she should not be checked on a regular basis. Germs can be anywhere. You never know, your dog might have eaten something, which the stomach couldn't agree or digest. Your dog might be turning old , that could be a main reason. Kindly get your dog checked as soon as possible.
