Is David Mamet Anti-military In His Show 'The Unit'?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

I would say that David Mamet is a very proud American, he believes in the fighting men and women of the U.S Armed Forces, but he thoroughly despises their commander in chief, the dim-witted frail bully-coward Bush.  Mamet's television show is an homage to the fighting men of Delta Force and their families who have to put up with all of the fall out of the activities.

Mamet's script often shows certain failings and idiocy in the military, just as his co-producer Shaun Ryan was not afraid of doing in his series The Shield.

Mamet clearly thinks highly of his Delta Force friend Haney, whose book 'Inside Delta Force' the show is based upon.

If he is anti-military is only comes from his feeling that military might is used poorly and perhaps this embarrasses him.  I'm sure that he feels the same about terrorism as everyone else.
