Dundee is Scotland's fourth largest city and has a population of about 140000. It has good geographic location with Edinburgh 60 miles to the south, Aberdeen 67 miles to the north and  is 65 miles away from city of Glasgow .
Natives of Dundee are called Dundonians. They have a very typical accent. Population in Dundee increased quite a bit when the Industrial Revolution took place. During the mid 19th century many Irish workers came here and settled down. They were victims of the Potato Famine and wanted to work in the industries.  Many people from Italy and Poland also migrated here in the 19th and 20th Centuries  Despite the recent economic growth in Dundee, much of the population still fall in the low income bracket and get social security benefits. Almost half the local population do not live in their own houses. The Whitfield area specially is quite poor and children live here below the poverty line which is also a reason for the rates of teenage pregnancy and abortions.
