Chilton's Online do offer a number of sample chapters in PDF format but these are merely tasters and not very meaty. And unless you are extremely lucky probably not the model of car you are interested in.

          But Chilton's do offer two digital options to purchase soft copies of their manuals and service guides, CD-ROM and a subscription web site. The beauty of the CD or web site option is that can print off whatever pages you need to take into your workshop without having to worry about getting grubby fingerprints all over them.

          Unlike Chilton, other auto repair manual publishers have shied away from the web-based manual though they have embraced the idea of putting their auto service guides onto CD and DVD. The virtual online auto repair manual faces opposition in some quarters, probably, I guess, because of fears that a buyer would then proceed to print off hundreds of copies for their buddies. But then they could do that already by buying or borrowing a copy of hard bound manual, so that argument doesn't really stand up to scrutiny.

I know that through our public library system you can access the Chilton online auto repair database. All you need is a library card and you can access it right from your home computer for free!

Autozone.com has chilton manuals online. You have to register with them. Registration is free though. Go to the "repair info" at the top of the home page.
