When Was Boston United Football Club Founded?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Boston United Football Club was founded in 1933, taking over from the former club of the town, Boston FC. This should not be confused with the current non-league side, also called Boston FC who were formed in 1963 and play in the United Counties League.

Boston United started out by playing in the Midland and the Southern Leagues. After 35 years of formation, they co-founded the Northern Premier League of which they were champions on four occasions.

They were also part of the Alliance Premier League, which is now known as the Football Conference.

The club has only turned professional since 2001 and in it's first professional season, Boston won the Conference. They are now in the Football League Two and finished the 2005/06 season in a respectable 11th place.
Boston United play their home games at the ground of Staffsmart Stadium which is also known as York Street. It has a capacity for approximately 6,500 people.
