    Richmond is a town in the county of North Yorkshire in England. It is a market town. It is located on the banks of the River Swale in North Yorkshire in the region of Yorkshire and the Humber. It is the administrative centre of the district of Richmondshire. It is located on the boundary of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The town has a population of about 8, 970 inhabitants. The town of Richmond was established in 1071 by Alan Rufus of the Norman dynasty. The lands on which the present-day town of Richmond exists were a grant from the then ruler of England, William the Conqueror. There are many cities and towns all over the world named Richmond after this British town in North Yorkshire.
