      Actually, it's today, June 21st. I just consulted my calendar, it confirmed it for me. Today is the longest day of the year, likewise, the shortest will be December 21st. It usually changes from one day in one year to another, but always comes back to the 21st. Hope this helps.

        I am not an expert, I think the longest day of year is the first day of summer and the shortest is the first day of winter.
