My Daughter's Lizard Has A Lump Under His Skin On His Back And It Seems To Be Growing. What Is This? He Is A Mountain Horned Dragon About 5-6inches Long Not Including Tail.

My daughter's MHDragon has a lump that formed recently under his skin (on his side/ back area). It appears as though it is getting larger. Does anyone know what this is or how to get rid of it? A local pet store said it could be a cyst and that you could always cut the skin slightly and "pop it out". By the way, we don't have access to a vet. She usually feeds him a variety of live foods, but did feed him a few "wild" crickets about a week prior to us noticing this lump. Help?!

Many cross question are possible to answerer your question like is he/she having constipation? Swollen legs? Limping? Loss of appetite? Lethargic? These are signs of metabolic bone disease of reptiles. The main cause of this disease is deficiency of calcium in the diet, less ultraviolet radiations, less protein in the diet and cold temperature etc.

make proper arrangements of ultraviolet lights. Give calcium rich diet. It will be good to see a herp vet for the proper diagnosis and treatment.

Thanks for your response. No swollen legs, diet consists of wax worms and crickets, sometimes meal worms, no limping, acting fine, eating fine, lighting is correct, etc. The lump is just there and seems to be slowly getting larger. What are the chances of it being a parasite or cyst? If either of those, what is treatment for this? There is no vet nearby.
