HotBot is not a new term, In fact it was one of the early Internet search engines that was launched in May 1996. It was a service of Wired Magazine. It was acquired by Lycos in the year 1998. The scope of the website has been reduced in recent years and it acts as a front end for third party search engines like MSN and Ask.com.
