Which Airlines Are Ranked As Having The Worst Service?

In its most recent survey, Skytrax designated North Korea's Air Koryo and Libya's Afriqiyah Airways as "one star" airlines, for their poor standards and quality of service.

In the case of Air Koryo, the secretive, Communist state's airline received the highest points (three stars) for the friendliness of the staff and seat comfort, while two stars were awarded for on-board meals and the airline's check-in service. Air Koryo received the lowest scores (1 star) for cabin safety, inflight entertainment and the crew's knowledge of major foreign languages. Air Koryo is not permitted to fly to destinations in the European Union, due to safety concerns. It is believed that the airline has not purchased a new aircraft since 1990 and that many airplanes used are up to 40 years old, such as an Antonov 24B from 1966.

Afriqiyah Airways was also given a one star rating by Skytrax. It received the lowest marks for transfer services, inflight entertainment, complimentary amenities offered on board and the friendliness of cabin staff. The airline did, however, earn three stars for its business class meals, as well as for seat comfort in this cabin.
