Who Said "He Who Holds Paris Holds France"?

Answer Question

After much research I am unable to prove Adolph Hitler said, "He who holds Paris, holds France." However, I am inclined to believe it is connected to his statement, "Is Parish burning?" which, is a question he asked General Alfred Jodl, in August 1944 during a telephone conversation during which, Hitler was being informed that Paris was about to fall into the  hands of the Allied Forces. Hitler would rather have seen Paris be totally destroyed by fire, than see his German forces overtaken, and Paris rule returned to France. In a earlier conversation he had told his forces to burn Paris, if it was being overrun by the Allied Forces.

I suspect Hitler did make this statement, however in pages and pages of famous Hitler quotes this statement, "He who holds Paris, holds France" is not documented. In my  memory recall it does ring a bell as a statement from Adolph Hitler's dairy.
