How Can I Write A Poem About True Love?

If you have ever experienced true love, then you shouldn't have a problem writing about it. The simple thing to do is to write about how you feel. Look at existing poems. Love is a famous theme within poems and there are many out there that you could gain inspiration from.

There are many ways of expressing true love in poetry. Metaphorical language is often used to describe love e.g. using flowers as a metaphor to describe how love grows, or the comparison of love with the weather such as the sunrise, cold days, warm days etc. If you felt that love was cruel, for example, you may compare it to a savage animal, or perhaps a stormy day.

Simply write down how you feel. Using symbolism will certainly help you, as it gives you something to compare your feelings to. Perhaps, to help your express your feelings of true love in poetry, you could think about the ups and downs of love, how it has made you feel and what you have learnt from it. Once you begin to write something down, you will find that the words come to you very easily.

I recently realized after 17 years apart that I am still in love with my fist husband and I wrote 4 poems back to back that day and I had never done anything like that before and I found him and told him I love him and by the way he still loves me. This is odd though we both had remarried and divorced and have children from our second marriage. We plan to remarry one day. If anyone is interested I will share my poems.
