Put her on a diet. Overweight animals isn't good. Especially cats and dogs. Only feed her just enough twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. Also I suggest buying a cat food specially for obesity. I too had an overweight cat but following what i just told you, shes lost the fat and is almost back where she should be :]

Be as understanding as possible, a big part of her life is missing. Keep in mind they make lite cat food, cats can't distinguish the taste. she needs support, the best way you can.YOU CAN HEAR THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO Give her the attention she needs. It takes time to recover. Good fortune.
