If you are suffering with abrasions in that area then at night time try letting some air get to the area leave it uncovered it will heal faster  when its healed you could try waxing next time though

Thanks so much for your answer....I will for sure try your "night time tip"

Honestly, I am a little too afraid of the waxing pain......I can hardly handle the pain from the lip and eyebrow wax.....haha....always brings tears to my eyes!

One more tip.. I have the same problem.. What has been the most effective in avoiding these bumps is to use an oil applied directly after shaving while the shaved area is still damp (not wet, pat dry with a towel). I use either Vitamin E Oil or Bath and Body Works Oil (I use the Jasmine Vanilla one, any would do). This works for me. For my legs as well; always had same issue there. I don't use a razor blade more than once on my bikini area, I shave in the shower with moderately hot water to open pores, I use Aveeno shave gel (recommended by my dermatologist), I DO NOT leave my razor in the shower to avoid mold and mildew, Rinse with cooler water to close pores.
      Hope this helps.

Thanks so much all of you!....it is so nice of all of you to answer......PBoop....I am 4-sure gonna try the Vit. E Oil!...... I have very thick and wavy hair on my head so I guess that is why I have such an issue with ingrown hairs!
Also I am gonna try the Special shave cream mentioned above, too!

The rash due to razor are contact allergy with razor. To avoid this, take following actions.

      1. Change the brand of razor or blade
      2. Apply the shaving cream lather and make the hairs extremely soft
      3. Use antiseptic lotions after shaving
      4. slowly and softly move the razor
      5. Don't let the hair to grow long
      6. Always use new blade or new disposable razor
      7. Take antiallergy tablets

Thanks Rayoflight! I appreciate your answer!
I have tried most all of your suggestions, except the antiallergy tabs.
I am trying using a brand new disp. razor each time I shave.
I must just have real "unruly" hairs....I guess!
Not to be gross...but..I get the cysts, ..ALL have white heads like a pimple that i can squeeze, and the "core" pops out. Once I squeeze I do see the hair come out, it is all curled up! It is very unattractive , they do hurt, and driving me crazy!

Always use hot water before you shave to open the pores up, then use 'king of shaves- shaving gel' its the best gel around, top marks in all reviews. Then shave in light motions, don't keep going over the same area a lot, that's what causes the razor burn. When you have finished shaving then apply cold water to close the pores then apply some sort of skin moisturizer. Nivea sensitive skin balm is what i use- its amazing. I suffer terribly with razor burn and doing it the way iv just described to you has helped no end :)
