I Am Scared To Exercise Because My Heart Beats To Fast And Starts Skipping Beats. Whenever I Do Exercise Or Spend A Day Cleaning My House My Heart Starts Beating Very Very Fast. When I'm Done And Sit And Relax I Get Palpitations. Why Is This?
I guess you could say I'm lazy because I'm scared of what my heart is going to do when I'm exercising. I smoke cigarettes and thats it. I pretty much sit on my a@@ all day on my computer and do light housework. I don't really go outside and I do not have a job right now. It seems like when I make just the slightest movement getting up and walking across my house my heart beat speeds up. Please Help

Thank you for your answer. I forgot to mention in my question that I have been to several emergency rooms and they have done numerous blood tests, xrays, ekgs, echos, etc....and cannot find anything wrong with my heart. They always chalk it up to my acid reflux or generalized anxiety disorder. What do you think?
I agree, it is probably due to your anxiety disorder, i also suffer from that. It's not fun, i understand. Best wishes to you dear
I have the same problem. The skipped beats (I called them my "skippy beats", lol) are either Premature Atrial Contractions (PACs) and/or Premature Ventricular Contractions (PVCs). PACs are benign, and more common than PVCs, so you don't really have to worry about them. If they're PVCs, they're typically benign, as well, but could be a sign of something more serious.
You can find more info on both at the links below:
en.wikipedia.org your own peace of mind, I would suggest you see a Cardiologist. Most likely, the doctor will have you wear something called a Holter Monitor for 24 hrs to see how your heart beats in a 24 hr period of time. If he/she finds you have PACs or PVCs, he/she will most likely prescribe something called a Beta Blocker which will both slow down your heart and keep it from skipping. I am on these right now, and they've really helped me out. I suffer from anxiety, too, and don't exercise as much as I should, AND I drink cola, so these are most likely the main contributing factors to my heart issues.
I am not a doctor, so don't take what I say as gospel, but I don't believe you really have to worry about it too much because chances are, it's benign. I would suggest, however, that you see a doctor, and in the meantime, work out a little bit. That way, your heart rate will go up and your heart will be accustomed to exercise so it won't have to work as hard when you make the slightest movement. Mind you, I need to take my own advice (lol), but from what my doctor told me, exercise, keeping away from caffeine, and trying not to let my anxiety get the best of me would all help to keep my fast and 'skippy beats' at bay.
Good luck and God Bless :)

Whatever your doing on the computer is stressing you out. Could be an intense game or something that really gets you worked up and excited. If you listen you will learn. Do not go on the computer for a month. It's time to put your health above whatever is urging you to continue your rapid heart rate. Just forget about it. Watch tv instead and sit back/lay down (whichever makes you feel more comfortable and relaxed) Your heart may be beating too fast for sitting so try to relax and take deep breaths in and out. Take control of your heart rate. Lie down and hold your breath for as long as you can (since you smoke). Then release slowly and not all at once. The more days you do this the more you will relax. Do it standing up sometimes so it doesnt go out of control when you stand. I went though the same problem. Trust me.
