It is not unusual for hens to stop laying eggs during the winter months.  Some still might lay occasionally, but not on a regular basis.

Some hens lay better than others through the winter. I have Buff Orpingtons and Rhode Island Reds and Brahma's, and Australorps. They all laid through the winter and did very well. Do your research and look for the breeds that will lay through winter.

If you want your hens to lay in the winter, put a RED light in the hen house, it seems to give them more get-up-and-go in egg laying.
