When Was The Agrarian Revolution?

The agrarian revolution was a period that immediately preceded the industrial revolution that took place during the late 1700s and early 1900s. It caused a drastic reduction in the agricultural labour force and a corresponding increased in the population in towns and cities.

This in turn stimulated a vastly increased demand for cheap, mass produced goods and provided a good supply of new manual labour for the recently built mills and factories.

The other side of the coin of the agrarian revolution was the devastation that was left behind in rural communities. There was often not enough workers to tend the land and many families were forced to give up their rural life and go into the towns or cities to get work in mills and factories, even though they would have preferred to remain in their village.
