How Do You Catch Hand Foot And Mouth Disease?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The hand-foot-and-mouth disease is a kind of an infection that affects children in which distinct blisters filled with fluid occur on the hands and feet, as well as in the interior of the mouth. This disease is caused by a type of virus called as Coxsackie virus. The virus generally lives in the gastrointestinal tract; hence it is also present in faeces. Thus the virus can spread very easily where there is poor hygiene. The symptoms of the disease start showing after just four to six days of being exposed to the virus. This disease can affect people all throughout the year, although one should be more careful in seasons like summer and fall.

This disease often affects groups of children who are in close proximity, like in a day-care facility.
